Hello! I have an entire super cute, personal background story to why we like Beauty and the Beast, but I will save that for a different post, and a different day.
I was wandering Hobby Lobby with Don, trying to find a good craft to post about, when I happened upon the wood aisle. Double bonus, they were having a sale. I found this cute cut out of the words “Be our guest” and instantly knew what I wanted to do.
I’m sort of a wood sign junkie, and I have been making wood signs for a few years now to sell at craft shows, so I always have a stash of wood at home.
This piece of wood that I used for this project was already cut, sanded, and whitewashed. I bought a larger piece of wood from Menards for $3.99 and cut it into four pieces (the finished size of each piece is 10×10 inches).
Below are the supplies used:
My ever faithful Cricut (the original one, ladies and gents), cartridge, and mats
Gold metallic paint (found mine at Hobby Lobby)
A paintbrush
Be Our Guest wood cutout (also found at Hobby Lobby)
Black Glitter Vinyl
Wood (remember I have already cut, sanded, and white-washed my wood)
E6000 Adhesive (not pictured)
First thing to do is paint the Be Our Guest letters so it has time to dry.
Here is a close-up of the paint I used.
I chose not to paint the sides, but you can if you want.
Now set that aside to dry.
I pulled out my Cricut and cut out my vinyl next. I decided to cut out Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, and Chip for my sign. I will admit that I still struggle with sizing on my Cricut, so this took a couple of tries before I got the right sizes.
Once I had my pieces cut out, I glued the “Be Our Guest” piece and my base wood piece together. I used my E6000 adhesive to attach the two pieces.
Once that was glued down, I added my vinyl.
My completed sign! I am happy with the way it turned out, and now it is sitting on my shelf in the kitchen for all to see:
I hope you enjoyed this, and it gets me thinking of all the different catch phrases my favorite Disney movies have that I could turn into a series of signs…..stay tuned, I may have created a monster (ooh, Monsters Inc, I wouldn’t have nothing if I didn’t have you)!
